The grass airstrip in Bombardopolis, Haiti, with a Hope From Above Cessna parked at the edge
The Kling Crew Bombardopolis · Haiti

We’re moving to Bombardopolis, Haiti.

Jon and Ashley Kling and our six kids. Jon is an aircraft mechanic, and the hospital’s medevac planes need one on the ground.

The Kling family, 2026

Hi, we’re the Klings

The Northwest region of Haiti has stayed stable, and it’s home to a fast-growing hospital that serves as a lifeline for the communities around it. Its aviation ministry flies medevacs almost daily, but there’s no full-time aircraft mechanic on the ground. When maintenance slips, planes get grounded.

Jon has the skills and the license to be that mechanic, and his construction background means he’ll oversee the hospital’s new buildings too. Jon first went to Haiti in 2011, when he was 18. Fifteen years, six trips, an A&P license and six kids later, we’re almost there.
